The real reason that Erin got into swing: grad requirements. Faced with the daunting thought of having to document eighty hours of physical activity for the short-lived Grad Portfolio plan, she decided to contact Shannon and Omer, the dance instructors who had visited her school for a PE class the previous year. Six months later, the Grad Portfolio was cancelled, but by then she was so completely captivated by swing that the idea of quitting was not even addressed, so at least some small good came of the Grad Portfolio fiasco. The beginner East Coast lessons at Fat City soon gave way to private lessons and workshops to build her repertoire and her confidence, and then a weekend at Camp Jitterbug in Seattle to sufficiently humble her again! Known to occasionally triple-step while clearing tables at a local bookstore café, Erin is a long-winded compulsive writer who loves city, country, and vegetarian cuisine, but not as much as she loves showing off on the dance floor, which is why she is so happy to help instruct the beginner lessons whenever necessary. In the end, though, it is the good friends and easygoing atmosphere that keep her firmly attached to Fat City, and she is glad to help out in almost any way - as long as there are guys coming to do any heavy lifting.
