1. The Other Big Band

The 'Other Big Band' (Fat City's 15-piece house band) returns this Friday for another night of live music from the Big Band era. Five years ago, Fat City Swing had the privilege of introducing ‘The Other Big Band' to the Vancouver Swing scene, and now, under the leadership of Doug Makela, they've become a hugely sought after Big Band playing shows all over BC and the US. Adding to their merits, baritone sax player, Chad Makela, has toured with the legendary Doc Severinsen, well known to television audiences as the flamboyant Grammy Award-winning Music Director of The Tonight Show. Our resident DJ 'Hepcat' Jose will spinning tracks during the band breaks.

2. Howard Rix & His Lucky Stars

If you love live music, then you DON'T want to miss this show. We are eagerly waiting to host one of our hottest nights of live music with the infamous 'Howard Rix & His Lucky Stars' on Friday, November 16th. Here to sharpen a musical switchblade that has been dulled by years of feel good nostalgia, Howard and his band will pay tribute to early Rock ‘n' Roll like Langley has never seen before. Electric singing, ripping guitar lines, backed up by unflagging drums, Howard Rix & His Lucky Stars will have a stage presence greater than most Big Bands.

3. Feed the Hungry

As you all know, fourth Fridays in Fat City is always a theme night. November 23rd's theme is 'Feed the Hungry'. Bring a non-perishable food item and get a dollar off admission. Our goal is to try and gather copious amounts of food for the Langley Food Bank. The itinerary for the rest of the night doesn't change. We have our lesson from 8:00-9:00pm and dancing till 11:30pm. Soundtrack for the evening provided by our resident DJ Jose.

4. 'Red'

November has five Fridays which means we have our first 'Spontaneous Friday' scheduled for that week. The 'City Council' has "spontaneously" decided to call it 'Red.' Red's the word . . . let's get creative with it!

Our 2007/2008 passports are ready for pick up this Friday. If you haven't paid for yours yet, please do so. Once paid, you'll be able to enjoy all the benefits that come from being a member. They are $30 and entitle you to discounted rates at our dances plus freebies and prizes throughout the year with a chance to win a BIG prize at the end of our season.

Our brand new T-Shirts are here! Yay! Same classic look, but brand new colours. Get yours at Fat City for only $17. Sizes include S M L XL & XXL. Last years' colours are now on clearance for $10. We just have a few sizes left.
7. Birthdays and Group Rates
Is it your birthday? Come celebrate at Fat City and get in for free! Call us in advance so we can put your name at the door and reserve a table for you! Group rates apply to groups of 10 and over. 2nd Friday:
College Night - All students get in for $4! General admission is $7.
3rd Friday:
Live Bands! General Admission is $12 & $10 for students.
4th Friday:
Theme nights - from the 80's to the Oscars, get in the spirit of things with our ever changing theme nights! General Admission is $7 & $6 for students.
5th Friday:
Spontaneous Fridays - you never know what's going to happen! General Admission is $7 & $6 for students.
